What is a DHA file?

A file is the right to a plot of a certain size in a DHA phase before a specific plot number has been allotted. Files are traded until DHA holds a ballot, after which each file is converted into an actual plot.

Allocation files

An allocation file is issued against DHA's own allocation of plots, typically to the original allottee. Because the ownership chain is direct, these files usually transfer more simply and are easier to resell. Buyers pay a premium for that convenience and lower perceived risk.

Affidavit files

An affidavit file changes hands through an affidavit-based arrangement rather than a direct allocation. They often trade at a lower price, which attracts buyers who are comfortable holding longer and handling a little more paperwork in exchange for a cheaper entry.
